My site has become more successful than I had imagined. The only problem is that because of the fact that there are a lot of images on my site, my bandwith usage tends to exceed its limits quite often... (even though I compress all the image files to low or medium quality in photoshop)
So, I've got 2 questions:
1) is it possible to avoid paying a lot for extra bandwith usage by, say, creating a geocities site or something where I can store/upload the image files and then link 'em to my actual site?
2) someone told me it'd be best to get my site its own server... but I have no idea where I should look, what the reasonable prices are etc. (cheap host-suggestions are welcome too, if you don't have an answer )
There are of course tricks you can use to link images from some sites to others, we wont go into it at all. We are not allowed.
As for your own server, if your willing to buy your own server, you might be better off finding a better host.
It might just be better to make your images smaller by using more code! You can turn blank space into background colours of table cells. A good method is to try and stay away from using large images at all.
There is no point to have any image on your site over 12KB. 12KB should be the limit for any picture on your site.
I don't really know any other way to help you without having to explain myself in a manual like document.

The problem is that some images are large, because I can't compress them any further. For instance, there are 3 images on the homepages that combine for 70 kb, but they're compressed to medium (save for web) in photoshop, otherwise the quality is terrible.
Is there a way to get them to a smaller size?
This month, I've used about 4,8 GB traffic, for about 10000 users.
