I remember in my first year at primary school (age 5 or 6?) the other kids were learning ABC and I was reading Oliver Twist... my teacher had a heart attack when she realised I was actually reading it... I got put up two years as a result
See, my mum is a teacher so I got taught all that stuff real early on.

heh, me sis wasn't 8 yrs old yet while bein one of the smartest kids in the 5th grade
and me kid sis just turned 7 and loves to read college-level microbiology! (well, she don't understand microbio anyway, but she reads it alright )
and me is a rotten slow reader but me still got put up about 2 years!
because me mommy's a doc and a teacher and home schooled us kiddies before puttin us in school.
but all that history doesn't matter now because i completed school a loooong while ago and still haven't gotten to university *sniff*sniff*sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Don't worry about it I was up and down like a yo-yo I went to about 7 different schools coz my family kept moving (coz of my dad's job) and some schools allowed me to move up, others didn't...
The UK edu system is a darn sight better than the US edu system, but it still sucks
In the end I wound up teaching myself most stuff, which was actually a very good thing you actually LEARN that way! lol!
