RUBY ON RAILS SUPERSTAR to lead dev at a STARTUP with a very large, untapped market.
What We Are Looking For:
THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD DEVELOPMENT of a large web application and have a major impact on product design/direction, software architecture, and implementation.
We need a Ruby on Rails guru who is well-versed in agile development methodologies and able to deliver high-quality, modular code with speed. You must be comfortable working with the entire application stack, from back-end database to UI implementation. You must have extensive experience building scalable Web 2.0 applications that can support millions of users, hits, and transactions. Proper, scalable back-end design is an absolute must. We need to be able to bring the product to market very quickly, so we need someone passionate who is willing to work hard to get us to public beta.
The following is a list of necessary and preferred qualifications:
-Intimate knowledge of database design, development, scalability; SQL brilliance (an absolute must)
-Web 2.0 / Ajax, clean, intuitive interface design (a must)
-Auction engine / e-commerce development experience
-Past lead architect/developer role at a startup
-Degree from a top tier CS program
-5+ years of web app experience, with 2-3 years of RoR

We are an early-stage startup building a consumer website to address a very large, untapped need that should transform the online retail industry in a specific vertical. Our site capitalizes on the fact that today's consumers want to save money without sacrificing the standards they have become accustomed to in the "good times." The founders are based in NYC and LA so you could telecommute.
Because you are a brilliant lead developer who can take us from idea to beta, we are offering significant equity stake that creates much more upside than your usual startup.
Time to market is critical and we plan on self-financing to get us to launch, after which revenue generation should be more than enough to provide all the regular perks (salary, medical/dental, 401k, free soda, pogo sticks). We are not going to be ad-supported and have a proven, transaction-based revenue model. Because we are going after a massive market (this is not a niche), we think that this could become a very big business and we will need you to bring it to life.
