its about extending and improving a jquery navigation system. the
navigation system is built from a <ul> list. there are two types of
links in the navigation:

--> links pointing to pages on the server where the project is hosted
(localhost)
the user should be able to bookmark localhost pages. the iframe must
be removed and the navigation box must be integrated directly into the
html. (something like http://tinyurl.com/dhopud)

--> links pointing to pages on external servers
external pages are loaded into an iframe (similar to the project folder)


general remarks:
- the final <ul> list can contain over 250 entries, max 3 levels
- browser compatibility: firefox 2.0+, safari 3+, opera 9+



1. general task list:

1.1. fix mouse cursor behaviour: enable the mouse cursor to always
show the hand symbol when hoovering the navigation box.

1.2. disable the double click event for items in the navigation box.

1.3. sometimes the navigation box gets stuck on the screen while
dragging.. is there something that can be optimized for a better
performance of the navigation box?



2. tasks for the behaviour on localhost pages:

2.1. remove the iframe on localhost pages
--> right now all pages are loaded into an iframe. please remove the
iframe for the localhost pages and integrate the navigation directly
into the html of the page.

2.2. on localhost pages: store the position of the navigation box into
a cookie. when loading a new localhost page, rebuild the position of
the navigation box from the cookie values. (something like
http://tinyurl.com/dhopud)

2.3. implement: highlight a navigation item through the URL
--> when visiting ../site/index.htm the item "Home" gets highlighted
--> when visiting ../site/contact.htm the item "Contact" gets highlighted
--> when visiting ../site/partner.htm the item "Partner" gets highlighted

2.4. make that the message "CLICK AND DRAG TO MOVE BOX +" displays one time only per visit.



3. tasks for the behaviour on external pages:

3.1. append the iframe for external pages
--> when selecting a link to an external page, build the iframe so
that the page displays in the iframe. (see project folder "index.htm")

3.2. while loading an external page: in the bottom right corner of the
navigation box the text "loading..." appears. (see project folder
"load-sample.htm")

3.3. after loading the external page, the text "loading..."
disappears, in the bottom right corner of the navigation box the text
"remove me X" appears. make it clickable. onClick the iframe gets
removed, and the browser displays the page normally. (see project
folder "close-sample.htm")

3.4. is it possible to make the forward/backward buttons of the browser work.
