J2ME with MySQL

HI,
im working now on project related to J2ME
in this project we need to connect J2ME with MySQL
so i was wondering is it possible to connect J2ME with MySQL directly or we need to keep Third party beween them like J2EE code ???

J2ME needs to send data to MySQL and then in Mysql some calculation must be done ...
