Transparent image issue

I am having some problems with image transparency in IE...

You can see my problem in the attached image.

Any suggestions of how I can fix this?

I've had a google around about transparency and IE but the image I create IS transparent, but just loses quality!

Link to page? What version of IE? What's the image format (GIF, PNG-8 or PNG-24)?

That was somtrhing I tried in the past, but my images are actually showing transparency fine, just losing the quality.

IE6 cannot render alpha transparency, only index. Because of this, an images which have pixels with an opacity value between 0 and 1 exclusive, the pixel will display fully transparent and you will get this 'jagged' effect. Have you considered not using transparency or just leaving this 'low-fi' experience in place?

I need the transparency as my script loops through some db values and prints out the images for each record, and the background fades as you go down the page.

I'll have a think and reconsider.
