Unicode lessons & issues

Hello everyone,
I'm going to design a news site which is going to be in a language other than english. I've to use "Devnagri" script.

I haven't worked on Unicode before and I think it's gonna be a challenge for me coz I've to start from scratch.

If there's any good tutorial out there or a starting point for me to work.

is a complex problem because implies both parts to cooperate your site and the client browser. You can deal with first part, the site, because you can control it, but I don't know any good solution for second part about client browser configuration, missing fonts, encoding settings, and so on.
It's a very large subject and I don't think that can be covered with few links.
I guess the only way is to answer to more specific question.
