How to type in actionscript.

Yes, this sounds very newbie-ish. But how do I type actionscript into Flash CS3?

Under window, their should be a option called "Actions". I believe that should reveal the actionscript box, but I'm using Flash 8. So I'm no expert on the UI for Flash CS3!
