Web Designer Needed for Small Site

Hello,

I need someone to design a relatively simple site for me. It is roughly 35-pages, 3 of which will include a php submit button that will send information to be processed and a spry menu. I would like this to be done in Dreamweaver CS3. It's mostly just an overview of a company with a few pages for customer service.

Any idea how many hours this will take? I have an idea, but want to check with others.

Thanks.

3 pages with a form. do you also require the form processing scripts and error checking/logging?
do you need to be able to edit the pages?
do you need to be able to upload images?
what are the other 32 pages to consist of?
why do you need a php submit button when you have asked for this to be done in perl?
Edit: (oops scrub that. I mixed up your post with another thread ).

what is a spry menu?

Does it want it coded prfoessionally? what does it matter what software is used so long as the finished site performs properly?
(I only write validated code so I don't use dreamweaver).
Do you need graphics and logos done too?
who will do the CSS?
do you want the code to be validated?
do you want the css to be validated?
what is your timescale?
what server are you running?
we need more information. I mean if I said to you to get me a car, wouldn;t you ask me for some criteria?
what is your budget?

Basic company information.

I think it's a menu that's from Dreamweaver. It's basically just a drop down menu.

As long as the code works, I doubt the company will care what program was used. I think they want Dreamweaver simply because that's what they've used.

No, that's all supplied.

You, or whomever makes the website.

Doesn't need to be, but would be nice I suppose.

Not sure. I was hoping to get a few quotes.

I must confess that I don't know much about web deisng outside of HTML. I'm just tell you all what the company told me.

OK, on that basis, I shall suggest what you are looking for so you can get more accurate quotes.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time now to do it as well as remaining competitively priced.

What you are looking for is: - (at least),

1. content management system
(including security and error checking/sql injection checking/etc)
2. images uploader scripts
3. MySQL (or similar) database
4. html formatting (of the output from the db)
5. css coding
6. server running php/perl and MySQL
7. optimisation of images and graphics.
8. sufficient training (for the client), in the use of the content management system
9. adequate server back-up plan.
10. Oh yeh and for the form processing scripts, you will need those for the forms to work.

Edit: you'll also need to have someone input the dtata to the server, ie the text and imagery, that you want in your pages as well as email addresses to which the forms will be sent.

There is likely other stuff which I haven't related to your posts and which others may mention.

hth

Do you (or anyone else) think that I would be able to tackle this myself? I know HTML relatively well and I learn quickly. The company already has a website, they are just looking to upgrade it.

If you learn quickly, I expect that you could learn how to do it relatively soon. That said; I would suggest that you should do this firstly as a project and once you have got a good working knowledge of php/perl, and mysql then you might think of offering it to real customers.

If however, it's your own company, then you perhaps could do it alongside the live site and when tested and working, re-point the domain name or re-lable the home pages so that the new one takes over.

Of course, if you are willing to learn there are plenty of people here at CF who will offer help if you ask in the other forums.

I'm leaning towards that. One last question: What do you think would be a reasonable price to charge to do this? The domain and servers and all that are already setup.

I don't usually do it so I am not au fait with current prices. I do know though that locally, some places would charge upwards of 1500GBP.

About 1000 US dollars though I'm in the process of moving at the moment so I'm not taking on too much work.

Hi,

I've been talking to the company and have figured out exactly what they want. My skills will be able to handle their needs. The PHP scripts have already been written, all I need to do is place them in the website and possibly modify one of them. I may ask for help with that, but everything else I can handle.

I apologize if I mislead anyone.
