chat & instant messaging

I'm not sure if this is js or java...what I need is a pop-up chat (I think)

kind of like some of the sites I've seen where you can click a link for live chat if you have questions...something that can support multiple chats

I'm not sure if I've asked for the right thing - if someone can provide me with a couple of links of where to look that would help immensely

Edit: I guess it's instant messaging that I need - not chat

If it's something like MSN; you need XML.
If it's a web based applet, you need Java. Not JavaScript.
You will have to pay money for this, unless you use Joomla! Which you can get a few good free ones.

not exactly moodle - I had edited my first post to say that I guess I'm looking more for an im thing than a chat

it's kewl - it's not completely necessary - this site is currently using yahoo but that's a pain in the butt - you have to create an account and then you have to request to be added and blah blah blah

I'll let him know that if he wants a real solution that he'll probably have to pay

thanks for your help!
