Absurdity

Absurdity981

It's pretty much my first site, I've taken it from a LJ account to Geocites and now have recently set it up as a domain. Inspiration was taken from qntm.org, what do you guys think?

EDIT: this is my current to do list for my site (besides adding new content) I've actually gotten it down quite a bit, was at 12 points 2 weeks ago.

1.Create scripts to:

A)Count total for site map (total of all pages) (DONE NOW)

B)Site map, with parents, siblings and children listed correctly (use numbers) create script that uses if statements, include it in sitemap, ie if map = 2 display all two else die('Sidebar error') have include statement in sidebar that would link to script does all work

C)Create links in sidebars, with parents, siblings and children listed correctly (use numbers)

D) Latest Image for comics (seperate datebase for images - get to it eventually)

2. Edit form field so it contians a text field for adding the content, and add a create button that used the text field, allowing me to create new pages with click of a button (all from one page).

If anyone has any suggestions for things I should add to this list I would be happy to take them.

Design:
- Don't like the color scheme. It is a bit annoying and not totally cohesive.
- I would prefer the nav column to be on the left, maybe thats just me though
- The background of the page is just...wierd...and too small for my screen (it tiles)
- Too much empty space at bottom

Technical:
- Excellent job with the validation, good coding styles, looks great.

Nice first site!

1. I am hearing that a lot, I seem to be the only person that likes the colour scheme, I just can't seem to get it much better.

2. I was actually trying to be a little different, was tired of always seeing it on the left.

3/4.Not sure what to do about that, when I put the quotes in I figured it would help take up some of that empty space, and I thought the background picture would be a nice distraction from the empty space, though you've said it was a little weird, I just took a picture of a star field. I would make the picture bigger, but it gets too blurry, I figured with the star field it would be hard to notice the tiling.

5. Thanks very much , I spent a lot of time with the validation, looking through all the specs, I figured if it validates it should be somewhat decent, though my stylesheet is sadly still a bit of a mess, need to tidy it up a bit.
