Stream Player with Song Info

Hi Everyone,

I have been searching google over the past 4 days trying to find a solution to no avail. 147 search attempts and over 1162 pages viewed (according to google web history)

It's a total nightmare. So here goes...

I am trying to get a very simple player that will play an MP3 based shoutcast stream within a pop up window. I need it to have the following.

Current track (needs to be live and if possible in sync with the stream)
Total playing time with playing status (playing - stopped - buffering)
3 Buttons (play - stop - mute)

Any of you guys got any suggestions or any ideas to point me in the right direction?

Ultimatly I want a flash based design so its multi-browser compatible rather than basing it around WMP and having an iframe refresh with the song info.

If it also helps I have a PHP script which pushes out the current song into plain text, and the output can be scripted to show formating, include actions etc.
But as I say it would limit the browsers it would work with.

You can make your own. www.gotoandlearn.com has some good tutorials on making an mp3 player.

Just looking through the initial content on the front page of that site I can see how it would help me do near enough all that I am hoping for and more!

I spotted a little sound visual on there too! Wonder if that would work

Will update here as I begin work on it

Now I just need to get some money to buy flash

Adobe has a 30-day trial of Flash Pro so if you can create your player in 30 days then cool. You might also think about hiring a professional to create the player for you.

While getting a professional to do the work would be the easy way, it wouldn't be the cost effective way.

To put it simple the player is for a new radio station I have personally launched. The focus of the entire station is FREE. Ok so I have to pay a license and shoutcast, but those are comming out of my own pocket already. Everything else is free, free DJ's, free voiceovers done by professionals and also selected charity based adverts which are being run free.

On the 30 day thing, yeah it could be possible to build it in 30 days, but why bother with a trial? Cause at the end of the day if I need to re-write part of it or even change a few things in the future I would end up buying flash anyway. So might aswell start here!
