Adding hyperlinks to executable flash files

I've been using a demo version of Flash 5 to see if I'd like to buy Flash at a later date.

I was able to add hyperlinked text to a Flash movie, and when I published it and added the html to a webpage I uploaded to the internet the hper link successfully took me to the website concerned.

However, when I tried the link on the executable file I published at the same time, although when I put the cursor over the link it turned into the usual little hand, it wouldn't take me to the webpage.

Why won't the hyperlink work in the executable version of the flash movie?

Latest version of flash professioinal is Flash 9 btw. When you say executable do you mean .exe or .swf? There is a difference when using them on the web. The link should have worked unless you used actionscript which isn't supported in Flash 5 and I'm guessing thats likely the issue.

Hi

I'm using Flash 5 simply because I have an old demo CD-ROM at hand...I'll get Flash CS3 if I do buy Flash. Flash 5 does seem to support ActionScript, but I simply added text and then added the URL in the appropriate box.

Anyway, the executable file I mean is .exe. The idea is to have an executable file in the form of a projector I can send to friends and family which includes a link to my website.
