Yeah, that’s an excerpt of a German documentary about so called savants, autistic people that don’t forget things. There was another guy, an ex-baseball player that once got hit by a baseball on his head and he could remember every day of his life since… what he did, how the weather was, etc.
And another guy was a human lexicon which you could ask something about history and he could answer… but he wasn’t able to take care of himself. He read thousands of books and never forgot anything but he couldn’t go on the streets without getting lost.

Very amazing, indeed.

There was a documentary that I'll have to find again that is about people who are not savants, but still possess these abilities. It was quite amazing.

One guy could do complex mathematical calculations in his head. To prove he wasn't a savant, they asked him a question like what day of the week did November 17, 1953 fall on. He figured it out in about 30 seconds and there is no known equation for this type of question. He had to develop is own algorithm in his mind. There were a couple of other examples, like a blind guy who could draw in true 3-D perspective just by feeling an object, which is what took artists years to figure out; DaVinci was the first to draw in perspective.

Sman5109 can only hope to improve
What happens is that the area of the brain that the savants abilities come from expand to other parts of the brain that are used to do other functions. For example if the savant remembers everything, the memory area of the brain expand to like the motor functions part of the brain so that part cannot work as it was meant to. Thus, the person has super human memory but is unable to walk.

I wonder if some accidents can cause the brain to work on that high level , why can't medical science intentionally do some sort of that thing to increase the brain bower.

Well, I guess I heard wrong. From what I understand, he derived his own equation to figure it out. That was really the point.
