Excalo.com

Hi everyone!

I put up a site about last week. Mainly it has images on it, and a few website templates and powerpoint templates. Of course Im going to put a lot more on it soon (like javascripts) but right now the images are the best part.

I have never had a site before, so could I get some feedback from you guys about whether or not u like it and whether or not u like my downloads. I would REALLLY appreciate it.

The site is http://www.excalo.com. Thanks in advance!

I don't like frames, I don't like the background, it is a little blury.
It is hard to read the give away of the day, the font is too dark.

I really dont like the left hand and upper graphics - i think the term 'less is more' is how i feel about this. Perhaps just keep the left hand side plain - with the nav - and the header alot smaller and cleaner.

Oh and a quick edit - you could do with getting rid of the bottom scrollbar in the iframe, or div - whatever youve used. Just use CSS to define that you dont want a border on the bottom.

Hope that helps mate

ok thanks for your feedback every1 and plz keep it coming but i hav a question: is it considered bad web practice to give the user the ability to "switch styles"? I would like to keep the current design i hav (after maybe fixing it up a little) but add a much simpler design as well. I would probably make the simple one the default.

I wasnt sure if it "mattered" in terms of good web practices, so i just wanted to check.

Im not talking about good practice... well - not really... - im talking about visually how the page looks and its appeal. A more targeted colour scheme, and a sleeker look could do wonders to the overall appeal site in terms of design.

Some webmasters dont pay any attention to design and concentrate on function/content - i like to try to find a balance between the two and display the function/content in an appealing, and clean way.

Just my opinion - and i dont mean to offend you in any way - just saying what i would do to the site if it was mine i guess.

But i dont see why giving users the ability to switch styles would be seen as bad web practice.

They work for me with JS enabled. I don't like your site. It looks amateurish, there really is no set theme to it. The theme I got was "fire" and thats so 1990s.

I don't think you need the frames at all. They make things look tacky especially with the extra scrollbar. You easily just make six pages rather than be lazy and use the frameset which is what I assume you are doing.
