automated tasks

Hi, I wasnt sure whether to post this here or in teh mysql part. I need to be able to do some automated tasks against my mysql database, is there s function in php to do this? Any ideas on how i could do this would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Well you won't use PHP as any PHP file has to be called on before it can run. What you are going to do is use a CRON job. This is a feature of the server.

This belongs in the other server side etc forum. You will also find some topics on CRON jobs in that forum.

unless ofcourse you are running a win2k server - in which case use scheled tasks (sp?)
