Pop up not displaying as intended in Safari

I have built a Flash website which opens in a pop up. In the pop up I have put CSS code to remove all the margins and padding in the browsers. The site displays well in IE, FF and Opera. However, in Safari, there is a 1px margin on the right and bottom. Is there additional code specific to Safari that I need to write to get rid of the margins?

Would be nice if you could show us your site or code that we can have a look. In any case that’s better than a vague statement about a margin that could result from anything.

Hard to say. It might be the object tha needs margin: 0; explicitly set but it might as well just be a bug in Safari. However, my Adblock tab (that I can click to block unwanted (Flash) ads) is also causing a big gap at the bottom.

The problem is that it’s impossible to test it and it’s impossible to foresee or influence the behavior to be exactly the same in every browser (or application in general), and if you want my honest opinion (you probably don’t but I’ll tell you anyway) this whole “Flash site opening in a popup window” is just the worst and most annoying thing you can do. While the design is all beautiful and nice (really!) it drastically lacks everything the internet is made for and requiring in the 21st century (cross device compatibility, accessibility…).

Anyway, you could just reduce the window size by one pixel and disable horizontal scrolling or just ignore that small gap at the very edge of the page. I can guarantee you that nobody will care as they get all scared away by “Click to enter website” and a huge Flash object taking forever to load.
And the most important quality of a website isn’t and shouldn’t be that it looks exactly the same in any browser but that it degrades gracefully (i.e. brings the message across even if some things don’t work) in those devices that behave differently for some reason. And there aren’t only IE, Firefox, and Safari, you know?

(Sorry, I didn’t mean to diss you, I’m just realistic.)

Thanks for your kind words regarding the design and your opinion on the matter. Regarding your suggestion to reduce the width by 1px and disabling horizontal scrolling, I did try that by placing the swf in its own div and specifying overflow-y to false. But that started throwing up margin problems in the other browsers. I'll keep experimenting and see what I can come up with.
