Hi
I have developed a few websites for the community and would like some input or info on what to do about the situation I may have put myself in.
Basically the site is for the community in South Africa and the idea is based on selling or finding text books or exam papers.
It is free for everybody as I do not feel the need to charge anyone for it.
The question:
I have sent out a questionare to help sell their books or get them and only one response has been recieved from 54 users already on the site, this was sent out 2 weeks ago.
What is the best option that I could use for this?
Why not just charge them a fee from now on or you could just deactivate the accounts and send them an email to make them aware of this change and after two weeks if they have not activated the account just delete it.
This is what "most" people do with websites;
I read that it is free, what is the link?
Hey man pretty cool, nothing wrong with that setup.
I am still developing a website on CD's and DVD's selling and so on.
The one thing that I can't seem to get before I start developing is the name of the domain - I always find that it comes after the design is complete.
I've done something similar but it was only for students at my school. Getting it to other schools would be a bit harder because there would be no efficient way to get students to pay each other for goods. This is why we made the site available for a single school only because both parties could meet in person and exchange money/books.
You can add other schools as needed nice idea.
I enjoy developing sites for the community.
I would appreciate it if they would respond to my emails as the site is for them.

I guess you'll have to find some other means of contacting them. What information do you ask of them? Email, phone number, home address? I see you ask for a phone number. Perhaps you can call them? Might be a little to personal I don't know.

If you charge a nominal fee, you may scare some people away, but chances are, those are the people you want to avoid anyhow, and those that do pay are much more likely to continue participation, as they have made an investment in your service.

I don't see it fair to charge them as that site I believe was developed over 2 years ago wasn't it westmatrix99, and helping out the community, yes it is a bit irritating that they wont answer an email as that is one of the primary methods of getting to know what's going on.
Also I have developed one called Furkids and those people are more interested in answering, which I do appreciate.
What does when the site was developed have to do with charging people?
