Check for a link

I have a chat, and when someone posts a link, i would like it to convert it to [link] which would be clickable, instead of having a big long URL.. how would i go about doing that?

Your going to want to check out regular expressions.

How does the script look currently?
Maybe it just needs a tweak?

Best way? Search the forums of course, this has been discussed many times. There have been some very decent patterns posted in the past.
