change a div back and forth

So I've gone through multiple tutorials, ajax, prototype, jqueries and plus 20 hours. I just can't manage to do this simple thing.--

I have a constant div and content div then I have links INSIDE the content div. I'd need to change the content div into a new one from the links inside it and then be able to get back to the first one if needed.

I don't care anymore how much the filesize is and is it jquery, prototype or whatever.. first I imagined I'd pull this ajax loader between the different divs but it doesn't matter I just need to get this done and asap. PLEASE HELP! many thanks!

add in a div inside your links div to hold the content. Then use ajax to call our content and insert it into the innerHTML of the div inside your links div. Then just continually change that one div. Clear it and add new... etc.
