AOL v8.0

Crashes my WinME, won't completely uninstall - leaves folders & .reg files...

Just FYI

Met too

I found Aol would monopolise your dial-up so you have to use the Aol "browser". It's disgraceful a company in such power can harm the operation of other installed programs.

You dont have to use the AOL browser.... and by the way the browser is an embedded version of IE.

We don't have aol v8 here in the uk, not yet. We still have v7 being sent through to our post. I hate junk mail... and they keep sending it.

I have high speed connection but I've been advised that when my buddy upgraded to aol 8 it messed with his win32 registry and wont let him install any other software. He is running XP on a brand new P4 machine. Just something to keep in mind...

Dont be cheap - get either cable or dsl already!

Or get a LAN, or T1 /T3!

Or if you want you can get a 40mb/s leased optical fibre connection for £8000 a year!

Well, only if you have the money.

right on scroots

aol needs to just go away
i remember i tried a free trial once, not only did it charge me ANYWAY, but on top of that you can only use aol features, like email and messenger, there is no actual internet access to webpages! what a rip off

one of our members ( wish i could remember ) once said that aol's the only virus that comes in the mail.

@ionsurge: think about it: who would bother to bootleg aol?

I hate AOL but had to use it whe I moved to London as it was my housemates connection that I used in my machine. I have since got broadband and uninstalled AOL but it still has its grips on my machine and I can't geet rd of it.

What do you expect from the same crooks who paid for much of the "President" Bush campaign though.

Try using System Mechanic (www.iolo.com) it is great, and it cleans up your machine good and proper, as well as letting you customize a lot of features in windows which you cant normally change.
