Fight agains IE?
Hey, I just had a great idea. Alright, so I have heard many many times the horrid fact that IE rules the realm of cyberspace with an iron fist that misinterprets things all the time. Well, I got to thinking that we have pro's of every part of a browser's design right here in CodingForums.com, so why not get these guys together and have them make a browser?
Think about it, we have graphic experts, semantic experts, accessability experts, guys who are good at marketing and business, script pro's, etc. Seriously, people here should make a browser! What do you say? -Ben

Pretty cool idea, but doesn't Mozilla already have that covered?

I always thought it would be cool if, for development purposes the W3C came out with thier own browser, that supports all of every technology that they produce, and leave it up to the others to support whatever they do.

Ya, I mean why have obsolete technology coming from a company that develops it as a second hand thing. Microsoft is not a browser developer. They do develop software, but they are not browser-specific oriented like W3C and the majority of the people at Coding Forums are. You don't see a bank running a car dealership with all the repo-ed cars, you know why? Because they are not a car dealership. They focus their attention, and it shows. Microsoft, on the other hand, has spread itself too much.

So you think MS spreads itself too thin in other words?
That may not be the reason for the browser issues, perhaps they have thier own ideas on the web, no matter how askew they may be.

Then we'll change the first letter, and go with it. It's all about marketing. Beorge Gush comes to mind.

Yes! That's what I'm talking about! You guys could whomp all competition, and I'm sure with all the standards that you guys come up with and decide to follow. You could very easily convince people to switch.
Keep going, more ideas! -Ben

I like the idea, but I can't see how we as a whole could come together for something like that. You can't just build a web browser over a forum. You would have to have meetings with everyone, face to face. Plus it would take a lot of work to even compete with Mozilla, even more to take down IE.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Mozilla applications are already developed so we could edit the source of that browser to add new web technologies to it. That would be a lot easier.

What we should do is continue to back and promote an already solid, soon-to-be competitor with IE, namely Mozilla (or Mozirra in Japan
)If we were to build our own CF browser, we'd only be taking away the use of browsers that are in better position to overtake IE. Instead of building a new browser, we need to slap the big red dinosaur on our websites to promote it.

CrzySdrs: Im the singer and your everyone else ('cept Zaphle) in this video.
It might take some work, but what would have to be done in person? I mean, just have a council of 5 or so people that oversee everything and relay it to eachother. Other people in the forum would pull together to make the coding work. I guess I don't see what so hard... other than the marketing part. But Moz is still pretty new. No one I know has even heard of it, then again they arent computer heads... Anywho, if you would absoulutely NEED to see eachother, do a video conference over a mesenger service. We have all the resources, lets pull them together. -Ben
