Welcome to the "Web Projects" forums. Before you post, make sure you've selected the correct category based on the size of your project (in US dollars), or whether it is a partnership or "looking for work" request instead. Observe the guidelines for this section:
To all thread starters, check your "pm" box for responses, as that's how bidders will be communicating with you mainly using. You can turn on new pm notification by going to "User CP"-> "Edit Options"-> "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages".
To respondents, avoid replying to a thread with a short generic response like "pm sent" as much as possible. It is pointless and clutters up the screen.
To respondents, don't reply to a work request with a summary of your resume. If you're not willing to spend the time to at least read the request and respond specifically to the request, then don't reply. The Web Projects forum isn't a place to get your resume/ portfolio posted on as many threads as possible, it's for the direct, human interaction between coder and client. Members who blanket the forums with their resume replies will be treated as spammers and banned.
To all thread starters, please update your thread's prefix to "resolved", when you've found a coder for your project or partnership (or wish to terminate the request). This is so coders don't waste time bidding on an invalid project. To do this, click on the "Edit" button under the first post of the thread, then the "Go Advanced" button. You have 14 days to update your thread's title.
I'm looking for somebody who can commute to the Barrington, IL area for a few days and be my personal advisor for programming. I need somebody who knows ajax and how javascript talks to php as well as translating objects. I'm putting up cash for people to just sit and advise me when I have questions.
Here comes the important part. If you answer questions like regular programmers on most coding forums, I cannot help you. I need detailed simplified answers, not silly stuff like "Use JSON" or "access the object". I don't need long drawn out pontifications on the birth of object oriented programming either.
I come from an all .php world, all the time. What I'm working on now takes objects in php which I've never used before and brings them down into javascript, which then needs to be sent back to .php.
I need objects and the use of them translated in plain English, as well as how ajax interacts with other programs.
The premise is simple: You sit next to me, I ask questions, and you give answers. I need somebody to take me to school on the items above and get me up to speed.
I'm considering it, however the experiences I've had on coding forums as well as online answers on e-mail/chat lately are really turning me off to the idea.

I can only imagine...
Hey maybe something like Google Wave would be beneficial. You can see each character that is typed, so your advisor could literally watch you code, and comment on the direction you're going as you do it. The inconvenience would be once you typed it into Wave you'd have to copy/paste it into a file to run it. On second thought that would probably suck.

Didn't google discontinue Wave?
I don't know Fumigator but he has 6000+ posts and seems to be respected and trusted on this forum. I would think that you can trust him.

They discontinued future development on it but many companies have integrated it and have lots of documentation stored within its structure so Google would really piss a lot of people off if they just shut it down overnight. I imagine it will take a year or so to phase it out.
