Question How can I generate an html document and set it as source of iframe?

I want to use simple jQuery to generate an html doc and then load it as the source of an iframe. I've Googled and Googled trying to find out how to do this but have come up empty so far.

I need to be able to create a new complete HTML doc so I can include a full doctype etc. in order to get the iframe contents to render properly in IE. The temporary solution I found is to write to the head and body of the iframe to insert my code but it doesn't allow me to add a doctype and so it triggers quirks mode when displaying in IE.

(I'm new to jQuery so a simple solution would be best.)
