Pricing, Projects, and Postings - A Guide for Buyers

This is a quick guide for someone posting a project related to web development, and will help you to have a better experience when looking for developers and designers.

Pricing

Many people have come to think that web design is dirt cheap. Cheap work is often cheap quality. When you purchase generic potato chips, don't you notice the difference?
Think about how much you make an hour (even ignoring benefits) and don't expect others to work for less than that.
Everything costs money, so before posting a project (even something small), make a budget.
Instead of assuming its a 'simple' task, post it in the Request a Quote forum.

Projects

If you are not a web developer, don't assume you understand the complexity of the task. Do some research and understand what you are asking others to do if you are going to be picky about the details.
Understand what technologies are used by your project. If it require programming, know the details of your server and if it requires modifications to a current system, know the details of that system.
You are hiring someone to do the work for you, be prepared to let them make some decisions based on their experience.
Be prepared to save time and money. If you are going to be very picky about the work, be prepared to pay accordingly. Time spent communicating about a project is paid time once its accepted, so if you are prepared before the project you will have less time wasted.

Postings

Please, please, please give enough detail when posting. The more clear you are, the more likely someone qualified will pick up the job.
Answer your messages from members. However don't forget to post clarifications on the thread for everyone.
Do not give your email address on the forum directly. Do you really want more spam?
When the project has been closed, please leave a post stating so.
If you are going to post your projects on 10 sites, then please just don't post it here. You will be wasting people's time.
