Whitespace in flash div?

I have a preloader and progress bar functioning but with a slow connection there is still a huge white space where the swf file is located inside the flash div. Is there any way to set the background to transparent of black?

Editing HTML code manually

To edit an existing HTML page, add the WMODE parameters to the HTML code.

1. Add the following parameter to the OBJECT tag:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent">

2. Add the following parameter to the EMBED tag:

wmode="transparent"
