Access AS objects on the main stage from within a symbol

I'm quite new to ActionScript, and I've found a problem that I haven't been able to solve yet.

I need to access Actionscript objects that I have defined on the main stage from within a symbol. The symbol is within the PhotoSplash component from Flashloaded.com I can edit the AS within the script just fine, but it doesn't recognize objects that exist on the main stage, (which I'm sure is not news to you AS masters).

So, how do I pull this off?

(I'm using AS3).

Thanks,

John

I think you'll get a better response from the support team of the component, as I cannot test without having the component too.

That's what I would think too, but with a 24-48 hour response time, and kind of cryptic responses when they do come, I'm looking for other sources of information
