Where to start with learning java?

I'm interested in learning java. Purpose would be to improve the functionality of my website via java applets - i.e. file upload applets, etc. My programming knowledge is in php, mysql and javascript. Keeping in mind my goal and programming background, what are the recommended books, online tutorials, etc.? Thanks.

I use "Java for dummies" its really good and explains things better than my lecturer often. The guy explains stuff in plain english instead of technical blabber.

I would also recommend this book.
Infact I would recommend any book from the series. The 'For Dummies' books are always good for programming and computing.

Thank you all for the tutorial and book suggestions. Over the weekend, I picked up Java for Dummies and Sam's Teach yourself Java in 21 Days. I've gone through 2 chapters in each book and they both seem useful/helpful. The difference between the books is in the assumption each book makes in the reader's basic programming knowledge.

Thankfully, there are a lot of similarities between object oriented php, javascript, and java.
