Question Use google maps API locally

Is it possible to use google maps API locally for flex or flash without using it on a online web server?

I am not very familiar with the Google APIs, but I have written a Flex application that accesses various web services. When I test these applications in Flex builder, it launches them locally and everything seems to work fine.

If you're trying to access a remote API, of course you will need an internet connection, but I should think it would work whether the application was launched from a web server or locally.
