Unhappy How to make a Swf/flash intro into a free website like the one hosted by Weebly

Hi everyone,

I'm just a beginner to this field yet I want to have a good and cool website even though it's just a free hosted website. In weebly.com , you can add a custom HTML. The problem now is, I want to have an intro before my homepage using a flash/swf file. I've tried searching this problem with google but ended up with complicated solutions. According to what I've read, you must a 2 HTML files. Like the flash file labeled as index.html and the website HTML to index2.html or whatever file name you want. Then, you have to put this in the same folder and upload it to your server.

My question now is, how will I do this when I'm only using a free hosted website? Is that even possible to create one using a free web host site? Like I can only insert a custom HTML, is there a code that can be provided in order to make the flash file appear first?

Help will be much appreciated. Or if there is simpler solution to this problem, I would be much more happier. Thanks in advanced..Hope someone can help me solved this problem. Thank you.

You have to make two pages, the index page (the main page) will load the intro SWF. Then the SWF will have to link to whatever the other page of your site is. I can't imagine free hosts not letting you make a second page, that being said I don't use them nor do I know which one you are using to know if its possible. Each host is different.

If you want a really cool site, generally an introswf is going to drag it down. That was one of those things that people did before they realized how often people leave their site right away. I would suggest not doing it, but thats up to you.

hmmm..thanks for the reply..i will try that one..yeap, sure we are subject to our own choice..I haven't tried this before so I guess making one will only tell difference..hehehe

BTW, i kinda confused. You said "You have to make two pages, the index page (the main page) will load the intro SWF. Then the SWF will have to link to whatever the other page of your site is" how will I gonna do that? I mean I can only embed a HTML code to the drag and drop custom HTML component. Is there a code for that..Because if i will just put the HTML, it's just like embedding a swf file to the site. Sorry, just a newbie here..

The index page is the first page people visit when they enter your site (unless its a search result for another page). So it should have the custom code with the Flash Intro on it, basically the HTML code to embed the SWF. Then the SWF should link to another page when its done playing. Make sense?

hmmm..here's the problem, the index file will automatically become the homepage. Now, in this site (weebly) when you're in the index page, you can add a custom HTML, so if i will embed the code, it will just show under the banner of menus.

Sample screen shot:

what i want is to show the flash intro first without showing the navigation of the homepage yet. In short, it's just the flash file that will show first. thanks..

Then that is an issue with your hosting, and there is nothing that I know of to do. You will have to ask them, because if you can't change any of the code of the page, you can't get rid of the navigation.

look for a link/tab called "file manager" or "upload files", you can then upload as many as you want directly from your desktop (ie not creating them through weebly), i think this is what you're looking for.
