To all thread starters, check your "pm" box for responses, as that's how bidders will be communicating with you mainly using. You can turn on new pm notification by going to "User CP"-> "Edit Options"-> "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages".
To respondents, avoid replying to a thread with a short generic response like "pm sent" as much as possible. It is pointless and clutters up the screen.
To respondents, don't reply to a work request with a summary of your resume. If you're not willing to spend the time to at least read the request and respond specifically to the request, then don't reply. The Web Projects forum isn't a place to get your resume/ portfolio posted on as many threads as possible, it's for the direct, human interaction between coder and client. Members who blanket the forums with their resume replies will be treated as spammers and banned.
To all thread starters, please update your thread's prefix to "resolved", when you've found a coder for your project or partnership (or wish to terminate the request). This is so coders don't waste time bidding on an invalid project. To do this, click on the "Edit" button under the first post of the thread, then the "Go Advanced" button. You have 14 days to update your thread's title.

Originally he/she asked to mimic the Flash behavior, from the intro fades, to their slide strip 'carousel'. They were pretty specific. I told them it wasn't difficult to produce the 'W2.0' whatever fx now so popular, or to make something look like Flash using javascript (Flash has its own, after all). I had a 'proof of concept' page up for their viewing for a couple of days. It looked just like their Flash, except it was all script, the images were reduced by 50-70%, and one didn't necessarily have to stick with the Flash design. I PMed a couple of time. I thought for sure they'd PM back and say, if nothing else, thanks for look-see, thanks for the effort. I never heard back from them and took it down from my site.

Of course. But this 'sybil' had posted over 100 times. And to not even PM back saying thanks, but no thanks. That's what surprised me. It was just the lack of response from someone with over 100 posts, here.
Someone could easily get 100 posts just asking lots of questions... 100 posts doesnt mean that they are a CEO of a software company or something. Also, even though someone has a somewhat significant number of posts doesnt mean that they are honest/kind/thoughtful.
It's a shame, like you said, but don't take it too hard. You didn't do anything wrong. Just remember this and make sure you never leave someone hanging.

I responded and never heard anything back, seems if you didn't agree that it was a really really hard thing to do, or if you one of the hundreds of perfectly good pre-made carousel scripts already out there, he didn't want to know.

I think so. Some agenda there. The core for running my script commands wasn't more than 20-30 lines of code. Moving, shrink/grow and fade basically use the same step function. You didn't need ANY external libraries. The opening script was longer. And you could reduce the heck out of the size of the images used. I got both bears down to less than 100K, and a 16 slot 'carousel' to less than 700K compared to several Meg in Flash. They looked just as good. It's possible THAT's the idea they didn't like? It's not a bad looking outfit. Their design sense isn't bad. But . . . and anyway.
I tend to look at javascript as being pretty open. I always attach an MIT license. But that's a very open license. It's more likely that 'Sybil', whoever he or she turns out to be, was just 'playin', with this. I don't know. Like I said. Fairly nice site, they have. But Flash is getting old for that kind of thing, compared to what you can now do with script and servers. Save a lot of download time over what they had. Again, anyway.
