What is needed for a good web designer

I am a web designer, I know only CSS xhtml and a little javascript, without any server side experience, do you think that it would be possible for me to get a good-paying business going?

I really don't have any experience in this, but I believe that you or your team need to be able to do pretty much anything.

Phpnewb is correct: you don't necessarily have to know everything, but you need a team in place that does.

Personally I couldn't tell the difference between a 'regular expression', and a 'concatenated string' or whatever - but I sell the things I can do, and if required, outsource the stuff I can't do.

For sure, to run a web design business you have to have a deep understanding of the industry - but you don't necessarily have to have personally high skill levels in all it's aspects.

Kind regards,

Gary
