Contenteditable inner element padding.

I'd really appreciate some help with this search box I'm working on. I would like it if the contenteditable text (Search...) were to always sit to the right of the dropdown no matter how long or short the dropdown label is.

Right now I gave the contenteditable div a large padding-left but it won't always be aligned correctly because the dropdown label name will be dynamic and change depending what the user enters in the dropdown. So a 220px padding-left will work for the "Long Dropdown Name" but when it changes to someting like "Short Name" it will be way off http://jsfiddle.net/JvnD/SatSx/3/embedded/result/
