How to make a database for a tutoring center?

I'm trying to make a thing for my school's tutoring center. Like people who want to sign up for a tutor can just go to a computer and register. Like they can see who's available, too, at that particular time.
I help out at the center and I end up filing papers like a lot.
So I was wondering if I should write a program for that or maybe there's already a pre-made database that you could create textfields and be able to see who's available.

I don't really mind doing either.
But if you think that its more fun to program it myself, can you help me out with it?
Other than just being nice, I'm hoping that I could learn more of programming from this.
Experience: Took a programming class last year, we were using Java.
Oh, I'm like an overachiever so I want something pretty with customized features. Like a print button, sorting options, and stuff.
I really don't mind working my butt of for this.

Thanks, you guys.

I don't really know how to tag this post.

Any database whatsoever is capable of storing the information you need.

What you should do is first plan out exactly what you want your program to do and then go about doing it.

Step 1. Plan out your program. Features and visual design.
Step 2. How much data are you looking to hold? Research the different database types. Access, MSSQL, Oracle, MySql ....etc Decide on the database you want to use.
Step 3. Start programming.

Optional Step but recommended. Stop using the word "like".

Okay, I'll look into that.
Hahah.
I tried to sound more colloquial to avoid sounding like a pompous dumbass.
