Question regarding rates charged

Hi, i am about to hire a sales person and was wondering how much to charge for websites from now on.

I know its ment to be my salary, other persons salary and other costs.

But when is it to high?

For instance no one will pay 1000's for a basic site.

Looking for a little advice because there is no guidance out there regarding this type of thing.

Thanks
