Could Use some advice - back up and move servers

Hey everyone,

So I've run into a bit of an issue and need some advice.

In the last two years I started learning more about web development and what it was like as a business. During that time, I worked with a developer far more skilled than I for 5-7 projects for things that were passed my skill level. I learned a lot through the process and would imagine my learning caused him a frustration or two.

Issue is, over the last two weeks he's started completely ignoring me mid-project and I'm left holding the torch and not knowing what to do. He took a graphic and cut/coded the site and loaded it onto the server a few months backs, for a

I don't believe he's on vacation or hurt because I see him online daily on facebook during the workday. Its been 11 days since last contact in which time Ive sent 4 emails, a few facebook messages and left a voicemail.

Anyhow, recently this server has been working like 50% of the time most days, so its lucky that Im not working (different job) while its up. I need to somehow get the site transferred to avoid a making worse of an already negative client impact.

With the back story there, I have two questions:

a) Im not sure if I've done something to irritate or make him disappear. I've paid him on time and at the rate he requests. Im worried I may have messed up a good relationship but not sure how to approach the situation?

b)I have access to the ftp of the new server and the old(when its live) but the CMS its built on uses databases. I'm trying to wiggle myself through a whole lot of stuff i don't know and transfer things but have no idea WHAT im doing. If pointed in the right direction I can work my way through it, but I don't even know the right questions to ask!?

Really appreciate any advice.

What type of CMS site is it ... WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, a custom site?

It's too bad you can't reconnect with the programmer and mend whatever happened.
You're sure that he's been paid in full ... up to now?

If it were me, I would change all of my passwords to the webhost account, ftp, and database.

Not that anything malicious might happen, but you don't know the reason for the divorce.

That looks like it's a Concrete 5 CMS error to me. Does that sound likely?

The CMS is indeed concrete5.

I have no experience with databases or the initial process of setting up a domain/server for this particular CMS. So if its a CMS error, I would not know.

Im a few hours in to php tutorials and last night jumped into the initial database and phpmyadmin stuff - but it went over my head.

I'm not really familiar with Concrete5, but that looks like you're just not connecting to the database on your (new?) server - I imagine this needs setting in a config file somewhere, assuming that the database itself is OK.

You might try posting on the Concrete5 forums, or reading through the help stuff on the C5 site.

This looks like it might be helpful.
