Quickest way to learn Java

Hi All,

I want to learn Java so i can develop a desktop app for some friends. I have experience developing web aps with the Coldfusion (CFML) language for websites and intranet applications, linking into current infrastructure of client, ie Windows Network or Linux based network with a LDAP Server for authentication.

This will be a small app initially and may grow if the client wants more features.

Since you already know how to program, I'd say hands on. Get yourself the JDK from oracle's website, and follow the tutorial's here: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/
