Depends what you mean by "quickly". Like a spoken foreign language, it is likely to take weeks or months to get even basic competence. Years even to attain fluency.

Try "Javascript - The Definitive Guide" by David Flanaghan.

Or

"Javascript in EasySteps" by Mike McGrath
