Confused as to I need input php devs

Ok im new to this forum so sorry for the inconvenience.

Forwarding to my thoughts.

I'm trying to develop a small website that's kinda like a social networkon a ssuper small scale maybe few 100 people with accounts. I my goal is to have the ability to have video conferencing, and to have an ability to send messages to people who that are video based. I also the possibility of to have what I would call a live video pod casting.

I have never seen a site with those ability so I don't know whee to start when it comes to implementing the video conferencing, I can build sites and hook them into sql but further then that I'm lost point me in a direction. I'm not looking for step by step but I'm just over loaded.

Thanks for and sorry if this is wrong area or a inconvenience.

Welcome to Coding Forums.

That doesn't sound like PHP's domain to me, more like.. a whole seperate program. When you say video conferencing Skype comes to mind, and there are sites out there for streaming video "livecasts" like twitch.tv, or livestream.com. However, these all require you to download a program. A web browser is likely a poor platform for anything past simply display of videos.

That is what I was thinking. I Skype is a superior compared to what I'm trying to accomplish.
The idea of the website I'm trying to do is that you don't need any software installed.
I just want the ability for me to stream a live video to a page of the site when I want and if needed a Web Cam style chat but with multiple people.
When I see that you can Web Cam chat on sites like my year book and Facebook. I don't understand why I couldn't just make it simple where you just add 2-3 people from a list and then start a conference. If that makes any sense I been searching all over for some source or concept scripts.

You can web-cam chat on Facebook and other sites without downloading any software? Huh, I don't know what technology they would be using, but that would mean it's possible. Maybe take a closer look at that, you could see if it's a Flash object at least.
