Bug in “Post a JavaScript” forum?

Philip M reported one of his posts, stating:
Quote:
There is programming defect in this forum (only Post A Javascript it seems). Although the edit button has tooltip "Edit/delete this post" there is no delete button. So I have had to simple blank out my first post.

The search feature does not find this thread when "combo" is requested. It does if "Triplplay" is requested.
Anyone got anything to say about that?

Its been, um, awhile now so I'm afraid I can't quite recall.
Are members actually able to delete their own posts? I don't think you can delete your own threads, but posts I'm not too sure of. The posting rules at the bottom of the threads and the forums should tell you if you can and cannot.

Searching seems to work fine for me. Both Tripleplay and combo in the JS forum only pulls up that thread.

Edit:
Actually I'm wrong, the posting rules only show new threads, replies attachments, and editing. Nothing explicitly about deletions. But I'm thinking that posts cannot be deleted, only edited. The tooltip would be in error. Hopefully someone can verify if they can successfully delete a post (not a thread starting one though; I'm pretty sure that's set to forbid deletion).

I can confirm that I have deleted my own posts before (some point within the last year).

I haven't tried lately but after I post this message I'll see if the option is still there...

EDIT: Yep, a "delete this message" option is there...

It's usually a good idea to start out with this at the VERY TOP of your CSS: * {border:0;margin:0;padding:0;}

If you try to delete a different thread you've posted, does it give the option? I'm thinking that you probably just can't delete threads.

I’m not 100% sure but you might be able to delete a thread as long as no reply has been posted yet.

I don't think that feature is an option on at least this version of vB. I could be wrong of course, but I think its limited to deleting your own posts and deleting your own threads, so that would certainly be the reason why you can't delete your own thread. I've in the past deleted threads that were simply emptied out with no replies since the OP had solved it themselves, but I would think if you could delete that they would just delete. It would also be possible that its a usergroup issue; new users versus senior users.

I am 100% sure you cannot delete your own thread, even with no response posts. As it happens, I started a thread yesterday that I wanted to kill after I posted it (once I realized it was in a dead section of the forum, despite it being the technically correct location for me to have posted it). I looked for a delete option, but there was no way to destroy it even though it did not having a single reply.

So I just replied to myself a few times and answered my own question.

I didn't have any luck finding the old prefix update either, though (to mark it as resolved) so maybe I'm just blind as a bat these days...

You can't delete threads, but you can posts. So you can't delete any post that started a thread. If you go to edit your post you're given the option at the bottom right to delete it. I've done it once or twice.
