A CMS built around being simple for new users
Hello,
A few months ago I decided to set myself a little challenge. The challenge was to build a system that would take a simple HTML/CSS template and allow it to be used as the theme for a website, with no knowledge of PHP from the user.
I've been adding bits to the project over time to try and improve my skills in some areas. Although I may not do things the best way first time, I feel this is ok since I did start the project with the objective of learning new skills.
However, I feel it would be a good idea to get other peoples views and opinions, and maybe even contributions.
The system has formed into a CMS now, with an addon system ("snippets"), page creation/editing and a few more features down the line. I aim for the system to be a good starting block for someone looking to learn web development from the start up, as they can start with a HTML/CSS theme, then make a simple snippet, then a more complex one etc.
I'm still trying to figure out if this is a good idea, so if you have any feedback on the concept, please tell me. I don't expect this to be the next Wordpress, but if it's a stupid idea then I might as well work on a better project.
I've been pushing the code to GitHub to try and learn a little about Git, too. If you're interested in contributing, or having a look at the code (it's a little messy right now, I'm mainly working on cleaning up code at the moment), then I will provide a link to the GitHub page.
Thank you for your time,
Joseph Duffy
