Extending Connection at McDonalds

McDonalds offers free wifi, but they only give you a 2-hour internet session, before it dies out and you have to accept the Terms and log in again.

Being a big Internet Radio person, this is VERY frustrating, because I listen to a lot of Countdown shows that are 2-hours in length, and invariably, my Internet connection will die halfway through the #1 song?!

(Usually I will start a connection so that it will die at the 1-hour mark, but that isn't always possible, or like right now, as a dummy I just renewed my connection at 7:57am which means in 2 hours I will miss the #1 song on my show coming up...)

Is there some way to trick McDonalds system and either...

1.) Extend my Session automatically, or

2.) Manually Kill a Session so I have control of when that happens (e.g. during a commercial)

Thanks,

Debbie

I don’t quite get your problem in the first place (are you sitting around at McDonald’s all day to listen to internet radio?) but I guess they have that policy for a reason and circumventing it is against their terms of use, i. e. illegal. And the rules of this forum state that illegal requests aren’t allowed.

I give you a chance to clarify before I close this thread.

I don't quite get what your problem is, because I think my original thread was pretty clear if you read it.

I am at McDonalds - as a paid customer - and I find it annoying how the Internet kicks out after 2 hours when I am working and listening to the radio online.

What in the hell is illegal about that?!

Well, obviously they don’t want you to stay online for more than two consecutive hours, for whatever reason (just as they wouldn’t want you to use their bathroom unless you make a purchase) so they wouldn’t want you to game the system I suppose. But can’t you disconnect and reconnect during a song you don’t like? Or is a two-hour session always running for two hours upon your first connection?

I’m also curious about what draws someone to McDonald’s at 7:57am and make them stay for more than two hours.

Bingo!

It appears to me that once you connect you are stuck in a 2-hour session. (THAT is what is annoying more than only have a 2-hour block.)

I am just trying to find a way to end the session and start over whenever I want.

How do you delete a session in FireFox?

Deleting the cookie doesn't do anything.

I don't know if I can just find the session on my laptop and delete it and start over, or if the 2-hour session is somehow being stored on their server?

You're kidding, right?!

Let's see...

I am on a job 2,000 miles from home, I don't have Internet access where I am staying, and I have a lot of work to get done, and McDonalds has the longest hours, so why not utilize it?!

I'm glad you can get all of your work done in under 2 hours, I sure can't?!

patryk is on a distinguished road
i'd bet it's proxy+cookies or simple MAC controll. clear you cookies and spoof your MAC address and most likely system will think you have just connected

I wish I could use McDonals for food! I like to go there with my family after church, but there are always people there on-line hogging all of the tables with no food at all. I complain to the management, but that's the rules at the moment.

Why don't you work outside in your car (the WiFi usually extends that far.) or stay somewhere that has WiFi?
