Do you know any easy to use javascript game engine?

For a school developement project I need to create a bomberman-like game in javascript witch will feature a 2D person vs person online gaming. I can use any open-source library/framework I want.

The thing is that javascript is a pretty hard language to learn from scratch and i probably wont be able to do it in time. For know i only know ruby on rails witch I'll be using for the backend, save, rooting, etc...

So i went looking for a really easy and fast to use game engine in javascript. I already found some pretty popular ones like Gamejs, box2dweb or tapjs and even a full list at https://gist.github.com/768272 but I'm unable to choose any of them.

Witch one provide the best tutorials, documentation, etc...

Any help would be welcome... As you can see, I'm total newbie in game development.

I'll just mention, I'm currently working my way through a 2012 book HTML5 GAMES by Jacob Seidelin, which involves building a javascript game in HTML5.

The example build isn't an arcade game --- more of a Bejeweled variant ---- but, usually with these type of books I find, once you build the example game, you've learned enough to go do your own thing. That's how I learned to make Flash games, for example.

Of course, since you mention you're making it for a class, you might not have that kind of time.

I do find though, in making games, you really gotta do it in layers. Learn first how to do Stick Figure Moves Around Screen And Explodes When He Hits A Small Square, before you attempt Recreation of Napoleonic Wars.
