java! jus started! and hating it!

I just started java afew days i have a very little assignment to do, but just cant seem to get it working! well this is it...
simple program which prompts the user to enter a persons name and mark. Once this has been entered it will put it into a sorted array. It will then prompt the user to ask if they want to enter another entry. If they enter Y then it prompts them for another entry. If they enter anything else it should print out all the entries in order before exiting the program. It should also print out the max, min and average. I just keep getting errors after errors everytime i compile it, i have to write the code in notepad! i thought C was bad! :-/. Can anyone type it up 4 me so that i can compare it with what i have so far??? or clues?? thanks!!!!
