Redirect subdomain to another

Hi guys and gals,

I'm looking for a way to do the following as a permanent solution.
I can't get my head around them .htaccess files..

Can you redirect

http://www.example.com/blog/pictures to www.example.com/pictures

(displaying the first URL's content)


I'm sure you can but I'm too dumb to work it out...

Either through .htaccess or another way?
