Lightbulb Learning C++

Hi there. I'm wondering roughly how long it normally takes to learn C++

What I mean basically is "How long would it take to be able to confidently code quite advanced programs (not talking video editors or anything here, just quite complicated ones)?"

Also, do you know any good resources which could help me learn C++ effectively? The quicker the better, but I'm willing to put quite a bit of time into it.

Also, the only other languages I know are HTML, CSS, and PHP.

Learning C++ take a lot longer than html or php.

My guess is that it will take you years to start making advanced programms

If you still want to start I recomend:
cplusplus.com
cprogramming.com

alykins will become famous soon enough
it really depends on how well you understand code and how adept you are at applying what you learn- when I had c++ classes I had my weeks assignment done before the teacher finished the class (keep in mind 1 day a week class that was about 3-4 hours long)

IMO C++ does not really have anything to do with html or php (php originated from PERL)

coding wise it is good to know C++ since it does influence a lot of languages; but if you are going to do php then start @ php not C++

I'm generally pretty good at picking up languages, an I'm already pretty fluent with PHP. I probably won't study it 4 hours a day, maybe 2-3 hours with a few breaks.
