wordpress navigation issue

hello I didn't know where to post this, sorry admins.

I am trying to help my uncle with his word press site by making the "picutres" and "words" navigation options null. I created a custom menu and inserted # as the url. In Chrome it works fine and does not redirect, in IE is send to error page in FF is alerts error, does anybody have ideas on a solution?
