Ruby Makes My Machine Hot

I have a Pentium 4 machine with raid config and 4 gigs of ram. The machine is a few years old but runs great except for when I install Ruby on it. The motherboard alarm immediately starts going off and remains until I roll it back to a point before I installed it. Even uninstalling Ruby doesn't make it stop.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Are you running Windows or Linux? I've heard Ruby's a pain to develop on a Windows machine and your trouble may be related to that.
