In terms of web development, very few languages require licenses. JavaScript is not one of them. ColdFusion requires a license; ASP sort of does by virtue of the fact that you need to run it on a Windows server.

Was someone trying to tell you that need a license for JavaScript?

Well technically, you can develop for free in Coldfusion, but the cost premium will come in the form of higher server costs because the hosting provider must foot the bill for the CF license.

Adobe has a free CF developer edition. You just cant run your own production server without a CF license.

Thought I would carify that.

But, as Oracle said, most languages are pretty much free to use and develop in, including javascript.

No, anyone didn't tell me but i read it somewhere on the internet that some languages requires a license to use them, so i thought its better to ask anyone if javascript requires license. Anyway thanks.
