Animate and Change Opacity of Div

I am very new to Javascript. However, I need to recreate the Flash banner at the top of this page: http://www.rbarnescpa.com using Javascript. I need it work in all browsers and the Droid and Ipad, so I figure Javascript is my best option.

If someone can please let me know what I need to search for so I can get started on this? Is there a tutorial out there?

I have been able to get the text to fade out and to slide down the screen but I have not been able to get these two things to work together.

If you don't have any idea how to do that, you're probably best off looking into jQuery.

In order to get any real help, you would have to show some code, though, that can be troubleshooted.
